Security
The safety of your account information is very important to Retirement Plan Services. The following provides a summary of the issues underlying security on the Internet and steps we have taken to ensure your account is secure. Generally speaking, there are two areas of security risk on the Internet. First, a user must be concerned with ensuring that private information is not "overheard" while it traverses the web. Second, the user must be able to confirm the identification of the website which they are browsing and transmitting private information across the Internet (such as our Benefits Net internet site).
Encryption:
Ensuring that private information is not "overheard" is addressed by encrypting the information as it passes across the Internet. Before you are asked to enter your SSN and password on our Sign-In page, your Internet browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape) enters a Secure Mode. This Secure Mode automatically encrypts all communication with the web site. You will recognize this Secure Mode in Internet Explorer & Netscape by the padlock at the bottom of the browser window. When you go to the Sign-In page on this site you will see the Secure Mode indicator.
The browser software on your computer controls the level, or complexity, of the encryption. Two levels are commonly available: 40-bit and 128-bit. Our website supports both, although the 128-bit encryption is the more secure. Information on the availablity of this support is available from the vendor of the browser.
Verisign Certificate:
The Verisign Certificate enabled at the Retirement Plan Services website confirms the identification of our website. The process of acquiring the Certificate from Verisign required us to provide information showing inter-related ownership of the website and the governmental registration of Retirement Plan Services. When you enter the pages that utilize Secure Mode the Verisign Certificate is (based on the settings of the browser) automatically verified. You can visually verify the Certificate by clicking the gold Verisign SecureSite icon on the Login page.
If you have further questions on the implementation of security on our website, please send an email by using the "Contact Us" page.
